Every year on Thanksgiving Day, GLSS staff and community volunteers come together to deliver meals to homebound people and others who might otherwise be alone or without a meal on Thanksgiving. This year, 200 meals were delivered to people in Lynn, Lynnfield, Nahant, Saugus, and Swampscott.

 “It’s a great way to kick off the holiday season,” said Nick Anander,” GLSS’ Community Programs Manager, who oversees GLSS’ nutrition programs. “It feels good knowing that you made a difference.” He says that getting volunteers is never a problem. “People around here are very kind and caring.”

 A similar effort happens on Christmas Day, thanks to GLSS’ Nutritionist Ellen Goldman and members of Temple Shirat Hayam of the North Shore in Swampscott. More than 200 meals were delivered on Christmas Day.
