Upcoming events and exciting news at Greater Lynn Senior Services

Greater Lynn Senior Services (GLSS) is pleased to announce that Pattyanne Lyons recently joined the agency to serve as Director of Development. In this role, she will oversee all aspects of development; fundraising, grant writing, marketing and communications, and serve on the agency’s senior leadership team.

“While GLSS receives state and federal funding to operate its core programs, there are many other initiatives that are reliant on donations and grant funding to fully meet community needs,” said Kathryn C. Burns, GLSS’ CEO. “Development within organizations like GLSS has never been more necessary.” Burns points to programs like Phoenix Food Hub, Family Abuse Prevention, and Mobile Mental Health as examples.

Lyons brings extensive experience in successful strategy, fundraising, communications, and community relations in both the elder healthcare and higher education fields. Prior to joining GLSS, she was Director of Communications and Community Relations for the state-run Veterans Home at Chelsea (formerly known as the Soldiers’ Home in Chelsea), directing communications and community relations for the opening of a $300,000 state-of-the-art long-term care facility.

As the Director of Development and Communications at Sherrill House in Boston, a 194-bed, not-for-profit Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Lyons developed a successful fundraising program through increased community awareness, new branding, and donor/family relations.

Pattyanne is excited to be a part of the team and is looking forward to telling GLSS’ story. “I am very happy to be at this comprehensive and engaging organization,” she said. “I already love what GLSS does and can’t wait to create a strategic vision and implementation plan for a full-scale development program, supporting the growth of philanthropic dollars and donors for the entire organization.”

Lyons is a graduate student in UMASS Boston’s prominent Management Program in Gerontology: Elder Healthcare and Aging Services, and thrives in her role supporting elders and those in need. She resides in West Roxbury.

GLSS is the Aging Services Access Point and Area Agency on Aging serving people age 60 and older and people living with disabilities in Lynn, Lynnfield, Nahant, Saugus, and Swampscott. Through several programs, the agency has broadened its demographic profile to serve consumers as young as age 3 and its geographic scope to include communities throughout the North Shore and Merrimack Valley.
